On September 6th, Hanoi Medical University invited Dr. Park to conduct inflatable penile prosthesis surgery training in Hanoi, Vietnam. Dr. Nguyen Hoai Bac, head of the Department of Urology at Hanoi Medical University Hospital, had recently visited Dr. Park’s practice in South Korea for IPP training. Dr. Bac organized this training course so that his team could learn from Dr. Park as well
The training course focused on hands-on surgical training and attendees performed a total of three surgeries. Dr. Park provided guidance side-by-side while Vietnamese surgeons were responsible for performing the surgery. The surgeons completed all three cases successfully, and the Vietnamese doctors who experienced Dr. Park’s surgical coaching firsthand showed better confidence in performing inflatable implant surgery
Vietnam is currently experiencing fast economic growth, and with that, a growing interest in the field of quality-of-life medicine. Prosthetic urology is one of those fields, and Dr. Park hopes to provide more surgical education for inflatable penile prosthesis in Vietnam in the near future
